Direct flights to New York from Marseille

25.08.2026

A new iconic destination is joining the Marseille Provence Airport network. Starting June 5, 2027, United Airlines will operate a daily direct flight between Marseille (MRS) and New York Newark (EWR), offering travelers from Provence easier access to one of the world’s most fascinating cities.

A daily connection to the United States

For the first time, a U.S. airline will offer direct service to Marseille. United Airlines will operate a daily flight between Marseille and New York Newark, providing a nonstop connection to the U.S. East Coast. With a flight time of approximately 9 hours and 15 minutes, this new route will save passengers several hours compared to an itinerary with a layover at another European airport.

The flights will be operated by the Airbus A321XLR, a next-generation aircraft designed for long-haul routes. With 150 seats, including 20 suites equipped with a lie-flat seat and a private door, the aircraft offers a comfortable, premium travel experience. Beyond comfort, this aircraft stands out for its improved environmental performance, with fuel consumption reduced by approximately 30% and a noise footprint up to 50% lower than that of previous generations in its class.

Located west of New York City, Newark Liberty International Airport is known for its quick access to Manhattan, which can be reached by train in about 30 minutes. As a key hub in the United Airlines network, Newark also provides access to more than 120 destinations across the United States and the Americas.

A strategic route for the Region

Each year, nearly 250,000 travelers already travel between Marseille and the United States. This new direct route meets growing demand, driven by business travelers, tourists, and people visiting loved ones on both sides of the Atlantic.

Nearly half of these travelers are American—a clientele particularly valued by regional tourism stakeholders for their interest in the diversity of what Provence has to offer: heritage, culture, cuisine, events, and the art of living. The launch of this route thus contributes to Provence’s international profile and to the development of economic, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between the two regions.

“This is a historic day for our airport, which is welcoming an American airline to our region for the first time. This new route will generate significant economic benefits, with an expected increase in the number of American visitors to Provence, coming not only from New York but from across the United States. We would like to thank United Airlines for its trust, as well as all of our institutional, business, and tourism partners who have worked alongside us for years to bring this wonderful project to fruition,” said Julien Coffinier, Chairman of the Executive Board of Aéroport Marseille Provence.
