[Translate to English:] Un été olympique : épreuve réussie pour la mise en service du Terminal 1

. Opened as planned ahead of the Olympic Games, the new Terminal 1 proved its operational efficiency this summer, welcoming close to 1.5 million passengers under optimum conditions.

In total, 2,404,489 passengers passed through Marseille Provence Airport's two terminals (+5.1% vs. July/August 2023).

Growth was driven in particular by international traffic (+5% vs. 2023), which now accounts for three-quarters of total traffic.

Load factors also improved, averaging close to 82% at the height of summer. Another notable trend was the rise in inbound visitors, who made up more than half of passengers on several of this summer’s new routes, such as Stockholm, Wroclaw and Shanghai. The latter even reached load factors approaching 90% in August.

These results are in line with Atout France’s tourism report, which ranked the SOUTH region among the most dynamic French destinations this summer.

Since the start of the year, Marseille Provence Airport has cemented its position as France’s second-largest regional airport (after Nice), with a total of 7,614,913 passengers (+4.1%), representing 303,000 more than in 2023. The high load factors also helped limit the increase in aircraft movements to only +1.6% compared with 2023, still remaining below 2019 levels (-1.4%).
